Slumber party and teething may not be the best combo...

The day of the shower, my friend Danica offerred to pick up SK and have a fun day with her baby girl and then spend the night with them. They had a spend the night party a few months ago and all went well, so I'm thinking this will be great. Sadly I did not factor in the fact that Sarah Katherine is getting all 4 molars in at one time. Luckily my baby girl chooses to deal with the pain by mostly sleeping it all away, but when she did wake up the fussies were here. So, not a big play time for the girls, but thanks so much to Danica for giving David and I a night out together. We went to the Japanese steak house and then to play putt putt (yes - putt putt, did you even know they had those outside of the beach?!).

Here is a pic of the girls after a big afternoon of being cute at the shower...

Diaper Castle for a Princess on the Way

This past week some friends from work threw a baby shower for another friend of ours that is having a baby girl soon. Because this friend is blessed to have a sister that has two young girls and all sorts of other goodies, we decided to give her a diaper cake for our hostess present. Well, in doing some scanning of the web I found this fabulous picture of a diaper castle, and here's what we made...

After a brief thought of quitting my job and going into the diaper castle business I came back to reality. :) We had a blast putting this together and I know all of those goodies will be put to good use when the precious princess arrives. Congrats to Lisa and Chris!!!

Cruisin'

Despite what the remainder of the blog suggests - David and I do get out and about from time to time. Over Labor Day weekend we took the cruise out of Mobile and went down to Cozumel. We had a wonderful time just the two of us! We relaxed, had fabulous food, and then relaxed some more - a much needed time. :)

My photographer skills at the beach in Cozumel.

Our little tiki hut at the resort we went to in Cozumel.

David at the port.

A cruise is not complete without towel animals!!! From the best I could tell they are - a guerrilla, horse, monkey, and frog. :)

Bitsy's B'day Party

Well, to celebrate SK's first birthday we had a big bash at our house. There were two baby pools and a jumpy-jump in the backyard, we grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs, and of course chowed down on cake. We had family and friends over to celebrate with us, and we had a WONDERFUL time. It was so great having most of the people that have really gone through this crazy year with us to celebrate our next step. We did miss my parents though who were quarantined in Dothan with the crud. No worries though - I think SK is up for as many b'day parties as possible, so we will celebrate again. :)
The family pic before cake was involved and everyone is clean. :)
Yummy - dig in!
The girl is LOVING her cake!
The kiddo's splashing in the pool!

One year checkup

Well, another birthday present for one year old's is a yucky doctor visit. We went this morning and here are her stats:
Height - 30" (75%)
Weight - 20 lbs (45%)
She also had 4 mean shots, one of which being the flu shot. Hopefully we can get immunized from this nastiness before it really hits hard.

Now that she is one year old and over 20 lbs, she can ride in a front facing car seat - her view on life is about to change! :)

First Birthday

Yesterday my baby girl turned one year old! I am kind of sad at the end of this "babyhood", but I am so looking forward to what amazing things there are just around the corner for us. Sarah Katherine took her first steps on David's birthday (Sept 7), so walking all over the place is upon us. I am definitely thankful for this past year, and so glad we aren't going through the craziness of last year about this time all over again! :) What a difference a year makes! I love this little one more that I ever knew was possible, I pray for her more than I ever thought anyone could possibly pray for another, and I am so thankful for the blessings she brings to my life on a daily basis. She's a ham for her public, she is learing about "independence", she still wants to cuddle when she's tired, she is a very happy girl, and she is the best baby I could have ever wished for!
Here are some pictures from our little family party last night. The "big" shin dig will be this weekend, so she'll get more cake and presents for the little princess. :)

For all the kiddo's out there, here are the steps for eating your birthday cupcake....

Step one - be super cute while mom and dad sing you Happy Birthday.

Step tw0 - Smear the icing around the cupcake to be sure every bite is good and sweet.

Step three - flip the cupcake upside down so that it will stick to one spot when you grab it.

Step four - dig in and smear goody EVERYWHERE!

Step five - take a picture looking so proud of the mess you have made!!!

Grandmommy and Granddaddy gave her a card that played music and lit up - she kept flipping the card over and over to figure out where the guy singing was!

Here she is with her loot! Her most favorite is her little chair that is just her little bitsy size. ;)

One Year Photo's

Well, our little girl is growing up so quickly! We went a few weeks ago and had one year photo's taken. I just can't believe how much she has grown and how much she is looking like a little lady these days. (maybe a bald little lady, but a lady nonetheless!)
