SK's First Haircut

Well, we have officially completed all items in the baby book (so sad!). We took Sarah Katherine to get her first official haircut last weekend. She did really well sitting in my lap, but was not comfy enough to sit by herself. Not really a drastic change, but the mullet is gone!

No drama during the cut, she kept her head still and was quiet. We tried for her to sit on her own, and that would not have had such a sweet outcome! :)

After her haircut. NOW she wants to sit on the chair cushion. :) Such a cutie pie!

Zip Lining in Georgia

I am in a leadership development class at work where we are learning about the company as well as other things that are good to know if you seek a leadership position at the company (public speaking class, HR tips and tricks, etc). Well, a standard thing the members of this class do every year is some sort of team building experience. Our class chose to do this crazy ziplining and ropes course in Georgia (http://www.historicbanningmills.com/canopy.html). The zipping was actually the easy part of this experience. The gosh-awful part are the rope "bridges" that you have to cross and attempt not to fall through the gaping holes in the "bridges". Yes, you are tied off during this experience, but that doesn't offer that much comfort because if you do fall off, how in the crud are you supposed to get back up on the bridge??? Anyways I can check this off my list for posterity, but no more rope bridges for me. I will zip with anyone though - that was fun!

My Memorial Day Weekend

I posted below that SK had a great time at Nana and Grandpa's house over Memorial Day weekend, and now I have finally loaded the pic's from my weekend. I went up to see David, who was in Illinois for 3 weeks of training for work. Saturday we went all over Chicago, Sunday we went into St. Louis, then Monday we hung around Champaign (where he was actually doing his training).

Below are the pictures of our crazy train derainment. It looks like the tracks cracked because they were like spaghetti behind us. The front car stayed on the tracks, but all the others were off the tracks. The back car is even on its side. The crazy thing is the car that flipped is the one where you buy drinks and snacks and David had just sat down from getting a coke! Our trip luck is getting kind of ridiculous now - flood in Napa, fire in Vegas, drunk pilot and cancelled flight going to Charlotte, now train derailment in St. Louis. If you see us - run!!!

Quality Time In Dothan

Since I have been single-momming it for two weeks and one week was full of sickness and both weekends were full of travel, the house is a disaster! I saw this as a great opportunity for SK to have some fun Grandmommy and Granddaddy time and for me to try and find my home under the layer of yuckiness that resides there now. :) So, mom had big plans for the week - play date with a friend's granddaughter, going to the park, going to McDonald's, visiting with other family... Unfortunately the "terrible two's" have hit and brought with it some lovely mood swings and tantrums. They are all having a good time for the most part, but mom is remembering that she is now on kiddo time and plans are fluid. Hopefully she is getting all her fits out and will see me when she gets home and have missed me so much that she is sweetness and light from now on!!!!

First lesson to grandmommy and granddaddy - I feed myself and do NOT try to help me or I'll have a come apart. Looks like the yogurt is yummy right then though.

She got to play at Barnes and Noble at their train exhibit. It was fun for a bit, but then it was time to go to bigger, better places - like McDonalds!

Memorial Day Weeekend 2010

We had an exciting Memorial Day weekend this year! David is off in Illinois doing training for 3 weeks, and we had a free plane ticket from air miles so we thought it would be a great opportunity to have a cheap, easy mini vacation. We got all set so that I would fly out of Nashville and SK would have a fabulous weekend with Nana and Grandpa! Of course since David is out of town we ALL got sick - SK spiked a fever and a rash on Sunday and Monday, I got strep throat Tuesday - Thursday, and then Friday was the day we are supposed to hit the road!!! Luckily everyone was fully contained and not contageous by that point, so the trip was on. I asked daycare to keep missy up until I got there on Friday for us to head out on our 4 hour ride so she could sleep in the car and guess what - they let her go on to sleep. Needless to say, the ride up left a LOT to be desired, and her little mood when we made it to Nana and Grandpa's house was not the very best. Thankfully Saturday brought a new start to the craziness that was the week before - SK was sweet to her Nana and Grandpa, I made it safely into Chicago, and no one had a fever!

A few hours away in the tour de Mid-West, David and I got to see Chicago on Saturday (the Museum of Natural History, a sunset cruise on Lake Michigan, and yummy Giordanno's pizza), St. Louis on Sunday (the arch, the Budweiser Clysdales) and Chamaign on Monday (where his training is - we saw University of Illinois). I have pictures of all of this that I will post later, I don't have the card reader with me. The biggest event of all of that stuff was the train de-railment on our way back from St. Louis!!! Luckily we were not injured, but several othes were. Can we not go anywhere without travel drama?!?!
