Two weeks ago we woke up at 3am to hear a thud from above in Sarah Katherine's room. We didn't hear any crying, so we thought all was ok. About 20 minutes later we hear SK crying because it was apparently her night light that fell off her bunk bed and turned off so we was in the dark and NOT happy. Then 10 minutes after that we hear frantic crying from SK and I run upstairs to hear her saying "my eye won't open"! I scooped her up and immediately gave her a double dose of benadryl because I was going to be sure her throat wasn't going to close up in case this was allergies. Well, it turned out that when her light fell off the bunk bed she climbed down to try and turn it back on. On her way back up to her bed she misjudged where she was and jumped forward onto the bed and clocked herself on the right temple with the corner of her ladder rail. This is a tough girl that doesn't cry when she actually hit her head, only when it swells up so much she couldn't see.
3 hours after the event:
One day later - she can open a little bit:
Two days later - max swelling point (so pitiful):
Three days later - she can finally see without pulling her eyelid up with her finger:
Thankfully the swelling went down and they eye didn't even change colors. So other than scaring the stew out of all of us, this was basically a non-event. I just wish I had not passed my lack of coordination on to my baby girl. I have a feeling this is the first of many boo boo stories.
